Have a round of Golf on Great Barrier Island

For those who enjoy a round of golf and are keen to try somewhere a little different, Great Barrier has two courses on offer. Pioneer Park is a 9 hole course at the start of the Whangaparapara road in the centre of the Island where extra obstacles like Pukekos and the occasional sheep test the skill levels of casual and experienced players alike and there is plenty of good advice to be gleaned from the regulars who are usually on the course or relaxing at the 19th hole.

An honesty box is available for the $10.00 green fees when the course is unattended, club hire is $5.00 and the official hours are Thursday and Sunday 10am – 6pm.For more information call Buster Parkes on 09 429 0483 or contact us at Stray Possum Lodge.

Kaitoke Links is a 9 hole Links course at Gray road which Murray Young has spent considerable time and effort creating. Starting with a wilderness of swamp and Pine forest he has slowly turned his property into a challenging and beautiful recreational facility. Not really a golfer myself I took a group of five children up there this school holidays and under Murray’s watchful eye we had a great time. Heartily recommended.

Phone him in the evenings on 09 4290686 or go to Kaitoke Links Course for more info.
